Week One Blog: Introductions

Hi! My name is Samantha. I graduated high school in 2008 from James Madison and took my first year out off. As of now I have no declared major, although I am leaning towards a psychology degree or something international, or career path. Whatever path I do take for a career it will be a social one, nothing to do with numbers or business (unless it is HR related). After I finish at NOVA I hope to go to the University of Ottawa in Ottawa CA or another school in Ottawa. I work full time as well as go to school and that takes up most of my time. I do however spend most of my free time just hanging out with friends. Right now my favourite TV show is tied between 4: The Office, Bones, House, and Lie to Me. I may be leaning more towards The Office though because who doesn't like Michael Scott? or Pam and Jim? and how can any ones life be complete without Dwight? Other then that I have a little sister who is adopted from Guatemala, she is only eight so there is a pretty big age difference, but she is still entertaining and slightly useful.

  1. I wish I had taken a year off to figure out what exactly I wanted to do, i've changed my major 3 times and I'm in my second year at NOVA. is there a particular reason why you want to go to a school in Ottawa, Ca? i love House, its a must DVR.

  2. Taking a year off for me was pretty much my only way to go, I suffered through high-school and hated it and figured the only way I would ever go back to learning and enjoying learning is by taking time off, granted it has taken me much longer to get back in the saddle than I thought it would! I would like to go to Ottawa because I have family there and have been going since I was a kid. I think it's a great city with a great mix of history, culture, big city and suburb. It has great areas and little nooks and I really the Byward market as well as downtown. I also think that Canada is just a great country and hope to live there for some period of my life. I like their social agenda and how much more equal life seems to be there while also having free choice and room for capitalism. I also like many of their political stances with the rest of the world!
