I thought that the video was very funny! It portrays an American singer singing a song about America. Laurie plays the singer who is somewhat terribly dressed and looks a little trashy. The song he sings also basically only says one thing "America", he does after a few lines of "America" add in "the States". I think he is making fun of Americans and the way we have songs that basically just continuously say how amazing the States are but don't give any real reason. I also think this video is in part poking fun of the fact that America and Americans have such small views of the world, what I mean by that is most Americans especially my age (20) have very little knowledge of the world around them but instead focus on America a country which is only 1/192 (as stated by the UN) of the entire world. The audience seems to laugh every time he says "America" with his phony passion, they laugh even harder when he says "The States". The sketch then ends with Fry punching out Laurie. It would seem that the Brits kind of think we are idiots and a little self involved.
All in all this video was hilarious!
It was funny, which goes to show that even when we are being made fun of we find humor in a lot of subject that other wouldn't.
